So the blue 240z will be going to its new home soon, a fellow club member to hopefully be restored to its former glory.

Good job man. I'm fairly sure that car was for a sale about 2 years ago in maybe Wellington? It was a different colour, had no motor in it at that stage and had a big square hole cut in the bonnet. I thought I had a picture of it around somewhere but can't seem to find it.

I would be keen on seeing that picture, the bonnet does indeed have a big square hole.

I reckon that was good buying that car.
all the hard work is done.
and good on you for re-L series'ing it
why spend 15-20k restoring shell of your one, when you can pay less than that and get on with driving it!
Hope it comes together easily

This was the listing, all the details are gone though, you could try contacting the seller on the listing and ask about it?

Last week of freedom before I start study so have been getting stuck into cleaning the L28 and other misc parts that will be going on the new 240z
Gave the carbs a bit of a clean on the outside, might give them a rebuild this week.
Ports have had a bit of a cleanup. Puilled the sparkplugs out to see what sort of pistons it has in it, looks to be standard dished pistons, the bores still show the hone marks clearly. So for this engine to have a 10+ compression ratio the head would have to be shaved correct? Took a photo of the stamps on the head to see if anyone can tell, I personally havent seen too many N42 heads so can't really tell.
