I'm no sound expert, (Far far from it) but don't amplifiers work best when they're mounted on their flat to they can heat sink properly?

Indeed. With anything involving heat you don't want the heat to rise onto other components. There are a million things to factor in.

With that all said, it's not the amplifier mounted on the back I am worried about as it will have plenty of air volume (pun intended) to dissipate heat. It's the one laying flat hidden behind the wall next to the sub box I am worried about. Pics later today to explain it further.

If it becomes are problem I will mount it in the boot itself on the back with the other amp.

Just bolted up the gearbox etc onto my fj20et and took it to Motueka where my brother inlay who is an engineer is going to make up my engine and gearbox mounts. Got to drop off the car tomorrow first.

Started fitting the motor on Saturday, so my brother inlaw could make the new mounts, but the rope broke while fitting it........ pics to come tomorrow.

Bugger bro, However you should never try to retro fit a enggine in a freshly panel.painted engine bay, This should have been the the first thing you done to your car

I was about to say the same thing. It seems like more mucking around but it's so much easier when you don't have to worry about scratching the paint.

I know from working on cars some things don't go to plan sorry to hear hope the damage is not to bad I'm on night shift this week will look for fuse box today when I wake up

Yeah I agree, and I do know this, it was just a timing thing.

The panel beating on my car was supposed to be finished by November 2009, then April, then July, then August etc and was not finished until 11pm the night before it had been booked into the paint shop.
The car was originally supposed to be fully built and ready for my Wedding to be my wedding car but because of the delays in the panel beating nothing else got done.

Other things like mounting in the door poppers etc where it would have been advantageous to weld in mounts etc can not happen now because it has been painted too.

Sweet. I have a perfectly functioning fuse box, but the lid has been painted purple by the previous owner, and want mine to look nice lol.

I will be there for certain for the semi finals of RWC, but not sure where we are living yet, but wherever I find a 9-5. Wellington is a top choice though.


So I don't have pics of the engine mounted in, but the engine mounts have been made and now working on the gearbox mount. Clearances are FUCK all, especially around the factory turbo and dump pipe which is very close to the steering mount and the firewall.


Anyway, here are the pictures of the engine after it fell in. As you can see I escaped without massive garks and scrapes. The inlet manifold landed on the brake master cylinder. The front missed and on the exhaust manifold side one stud made a small gark on the chassis rail about the width of the bolt, in a half moon size. So I escaped with the TINIEST mark.
