HR31 front struts wanted

Post by Flauski »

Have to be import turbo model HR31 struts, think RB20DET powered models only?

Way to tell difference is HR31 import struts have 100mm bolt spacing and disc size is: 274x22mm

australian R31 have bolt spacing 89mm I think and disc size is: 250x22mm

Could you use Z31 struts as they have the 100mm bolt spacing.

I want to keep my spare set but there are a few that are reasonably available.

Yahoo japan will be very expensive. I just have to be patient but there are plenty of sets in NZ. Not sure about Z31, no one mentions using them.

z31 struts have 100mm bottom bolt spacing for the steering arm.

r31 and pretty much everything else is 80mm.

i guess you could use the steering arm too, but the only common ball joint ive found to fit is the s12 which turns out to be basically identical to the z31 ones. the z31 struts are about an inch shorter in length than r31 too.

that clears that up then, thanks veg.

Those other ones you mentioned for sale are not the ones I am after they only have 80something mm caliper spacing and 250mm discs (are from a L20ET skyline)

Im on the hunt to not easy to find.
Only reason i want them is so i can do a bolt on 5 stud conversion with my Z31 hubs and calipers.
But don't worry i have other things i need to sort out first so won't be provideding much competition.

im going to see a guy with r31s tomorrow, will see what struts he has and get back to you.
what is your budget for turbo struts?

btw, z31 struts are 55mm diameter strut tubes, where as r31 is 50mm.

Cheaper the better, Not interested in anything over $150. Some smokers on Trademe want 250-350.

Just found from Don Mclean (races a 240K) that you can use hilux 4 pot calipers and MX-5 1800 rotors which are about 280mm. These bolt to strut with no adaptors just need to re drill hat + open hole slightly for hub. This way the whole dimensions of the strut will stay the same and may work out cheaper anyway (and brakes will be better, 4pot, larger discs)
