My Fail-Trip... ( pic heavy)

Hey guys someof you know i went down to timaru and chch last week. I thought I would share my trip as it was slighty funny.

Started the morning off at 5 am with 1 to 1 1/2 hour sleep... went down with my mate baz and his dog (tua)



It was effing cold!! I had 100kph winds coming through this hole and a couple of holes behind the dash.
REALLY WISH I DIDNT TAKE THE HEATER OUT!

So the first stop we got at murch i jumped at the chance for a pie and some warming up!



Then we hit fog and condensating windows...shitty conditions for driving and i was tired so i gave the wheel to baz


While in the passenger seat i thought i should fix the tempeture problem

we made it to springs junc, time for coffee and let the hands warm up

It was only 20minutes before the first problems started to happen. The car just started to lose power and die. I wasnt comfortable being somewhere between chch and home with a broken car and no tools. I thought it had lost spark so i gave the points a clean. nothing untill 10 mins later when it had cooled down a bit. then the agent fired up!

But then i heard a thud and a buzzing noise....found my battery resting against the altornater i deserved this though...as the cheap bastard i am i held it on with zip ties.... so i fixed the prob with the dog lead!

there was liquid everywhere we didnt know what it was, i was rubbing between my fingers trying to see what the viscosity of it was then a saw this

and baz had been rubbing his nose with battery acid and shit over his hands! so it was a made rush to was the shit off. But we ended up getting it going again and we were happy again!

and then sad....


Made it to amberly before braking down for the 3rd time...
Baz had AAA so gave them a buzz to see what they could do.turns out a ran out of petrol... (dodgy guage)

50m down the road to the shell station we went!

and this is where it got me

NOT IMPRESSED!

So I got Blair to come and get me with a car trailer (BIG UPS TO YOU MAN! WITHOUT THINKING TWICE YOU CAME AND HELPED CHEERS! ) we arrived finally at 6 30 pm...13 1/2 hour trip to timaru....FFS

Next day at blairs we started on the bog and getting the new springs in...I think they must be avenger rears cos the bugger is a jacked up like a tonka truck now..



We also found the root of the brake down problem! it was the coil! so went about bought myself a coil and a BLOODY BATTERY CLAMP!!

I got to have a ride in Kitchs 1200! Thanks for that man! it was a blast! 100mph blast lol

ended up getting up to chch on the friday night at midnight...MAN ITS A BIG CITY! i was lost for hours!
stayed at bazzas grandparents and saw their dog luke check this out


He is a hugely oversized dog!

I got to meet a few of you whiile i was down but it wasnt ideal, i would have loved to have the time to be able to have a bbq and a duff with all you guys talking datsuns till we slurred words so much we couldnt understand eachother..but another time maybe!
enjoyed seeing your dats! and cheers for the parts brendan! and cheers for the ride broky!

on my way home the charge light came on...fuck...heard a buzzing sound so i think its the regulater.. but anyway fanged it back up to nelly trying to get as far home without using my lights! and i made it ... well kinda... ten minutes from home it died! can you believe it?! i couldnt..



Not bad for a trip with no reg or warrent... i think i got lucky not getting caught really!

Was bloody good to put a face to the name Dylan.
Glad you could see a few of the Hornby klan Datsuns.
You can start getting ready for Rakaia cruise next year because as always its bigger and better than the year before!

Wow dude, sounds like you were really up against the odds! lol.
I left a message on your phone but I guess you were too busy breaking down all over the place!
Saw you leaving town just pulling back onto the motorway, I was the Green Subaru Waving & flashing the Lights madly.

Hope your next trip is a bit more relaxing, make sometime and we will make a real go of it!

Oh was that you clay!!!! hahaha I thought it was some guy warning me of a cop ahead! but i was also in panic mode cos i was lost hahaha wasnt sure if i was on the right state highway! sorry i didnt get to catch up bro. yeah the only time i really got to see people was the saturday. i cant check voice messages..too poor bro! but i did end up taking another phone, i thought i sent you a text off it but it may not have gone through? next time anyways

im gonna fit your heater back in when i see you up in nelson in a couple of weeks, then your windscreen wont be soaked in winter, and youll be warmer!!!
