I believe they will bolt up but the spindle angle is different and will give you mad positive camber I think.
Sorry can't give you a definite answer, not many people hold onto the std 1600 struts.
Also don't know if they will be much shorter than 310 ones anyway because if not theres probably not much point swapping, the brakes aren't much bigger if at all bigger than 310 stuff.
Springs are too big too I think.

go for it man, it only takes 15min to remove a strutt anyway. worse case scenario, it dont fit

I wouldn't bother TBH.
VL commonwhore brake calipers reportedly bolt straight onto B310 struts. I don't yet know what disc rotor to use with them though. (it quite a popular upgrade in OZ so I believe)

510 struts slightly shorter, same stub axle angle as 310. commodore calipers fit both 510 and 310 as caliper mounts are the same.
