And what i come up with is something a 195 65 14 or b 185 65 14 to keep speedo in range
What i would like to know is will 195s rub on anything or should i go 185 it's for the 160j so should be the same as the 1600 180b set up want to go r30 front when i have money but can get some cheap rubber now so thinking about it now
It really depends on the offset of your wheels and how low your car is.
I run 195/50/15 on the front of my 610 sedan (I think the wheels are +19 offset). Crossmember is a bit over 100 mm off the ground and they don't rub at all. I'm using R31 struts.
That's quite a positive offset; Have you tried the wheels on the car to make sure they clear the strut? I'm no expert but you may need to run spacers with such high offset wheels.
If they clear the strut and spring perch, I can't imagine that you would have any issues with rubbing on the guards since they are only 6 inch wide rims.
The front wheels on my 610 are 6.5 inch wide and they clear easy as. Again it all depends on how low you go as well.
Yeah best to check that you are going to be able to use the wheels before you get tyres put on.
If they don't quite fit, but you still want to run them you could always look at spacing them out.
Personally I'd shy away from that as I reckon rwd offset rims with a bit of dish look the business, but it's a matter of preference.
I have an excel copy of a really good tyre/rim calc you input your original specs then it over lays a pic of what you want to run.
It factors in and shows rim offset width tyre sizes height width speedo calibrations and also tyre stretch so it'l show you how a tyre will sit on your chosen rim.

I have 205s on the back of my 160J and 185s on the front they both clear easy as but they are on RWD spec 13X6" Steel rims. So that won't really help you to much.
