Stu's 72 Datsun 510

Post by ydstarlet »

Well i thought i would start a Members Project Thingy

I bought it about 1 1/2 to 2years ago off a guy abe that lives in Auckland, i actually think i saw it for sale on here!

After a few txt and calls i bought it and got it transported to me in chch by Captain Car transporters for 500 pingger, which i didnt think was too bad

when i bought it it had no wof and reg on hold!
failed wof on: Front and rear brakes
Rusty sills
Worn door hindges
Craked Headers

Pics off how i got it:

The car wasnt in bad order for a nearly 40 year old car but it deff needed some work so got a mate of a mate to replace sills in the rust bucket! then got Wairakei Maggo mufflers to do the brakes for wof and i would handle all the little things! So after pissing round for 3 months saving money to get all the work done and parts it had a wof for the first time in just under a year WOOHOOO

Then it was time for wheel shopping i sold the plain Advanti 5 spoke 15" wheels on trademe and bought some 17" Lenso Rs5 cheap as chips off a mate. Not realising they where a gaylord FWD offset so found some 20mm spacers for the front to make fit!

After all that i just didnt like the look of them on the car soo they went on trademe aswell (making a good profit)

Diddnt really know what wheels to buy then i came across a good special on 15x8 DTM Banzais 0 offset NEW!

Front dont fit too well but they look good (For Now)

Finally found the paint colour i wanted!

Its spose to be a little lighter than the factory Datsun 510 coupe BURNT ORANGE or Sahari Gold!

Got it painted through a guy Boxy Panal and paint who does it at home in his garage! i got his number off Dan1200sss off here! Thanks!

he had it panal and painted in under 2 weeks for $2000 Which i was stocked with!

After paint:
