Hopefully this hasn't been covered in a thread yet; I didn't find anything when I searched for it.
Ok, so I'm interested in knowing which models of Datsun are particularly rare in NZ.
I'm sure there must be some people out there who have a fair idea of which models are plentiful and which are scarce.
For example, my 610 wagon seems to be a much rarer model that my 610 sedan. I only know of maybe 3 other wagons, but chances are there are probably quite a few more out there. Ideally it would be great to know how many of each Datsun model exist in NZ, but that's probably a big ask.
Aaaaaanyway......go!

Re: What are the rarest datsuns in NZ?
I have always liked the SR311 2000 Sport, and have never seen a genuine, U20 engine and Solex'. They would have to be up there with Rare and Desirable.
The other car I have seen a photo of on here is the early Silvia, not the first of them,CSP311, they would be very Rare indeed, not just here in NZ, and Very desirable, I mean the late '70s early '80s one, they would be rare, but I question if that makes them desirable.
On the 610 theme there is the L20 injected 6 version, they are rare here.
C10 Coupes would be in the rare desirable category, does anyone know of one in NZ?
For me the most desirable would have to be something powered by an S20 from factory, Skyline or Z or even the Mid engine race car, that would be it!
Sorry I digress, but would be interested if anyone knows of a C10 coupe or S20.

Re: What are the rarest datsuns in NZ?
I have to admit I don't think I've ever seen a SR311, genuine or not...would like to though.
So do you mean an S110 Silvia?
I have much love for the 610 sharknose coupes. I would love to own one some day.
I think the KPGC10 is probably one of the rarest/most desirable Datsuns out there. They go for a very pretty penny indeed on Yahoo Japan. S20 power is so sweet. Would be cool to see one in the flesh. I'd be interested in knowing if there are any C10s in NZ...

Re: What are the rarest datsuns in NZ?
The early Silvia I was referring to was the S10, first I had seen was a photo from Nisfest. See photo below.
NZ is unique in the world as we had large numbers of interesting models imported second hand adding to the relatively boring local new car market. So instead of all driving Carrollas we were able to drive S110s and the like. E.g. When I was young 280zx and S1 RX7s were really common, but very few were sold to new car buyers, compare this with the Australian Market, dominated by Commodores and Falcons.

Ah, yeah that makes more sense. I thought the S10s were more of a mid-late 70's car? Didn't think they made them into the 80's?
Definitely so awesome that we had/have so much variation.

I too have heard stories of a shed full of old cars, one being a C10 4 door. A mates mate was trying to buy it a few months ago.

Re: What are the rarest datsuns in NZ?
I would be VERY skeptical about those stories, I doubt it's true.....but we'll never know till someone confirms if it is or not!
I can confirm of 2 different cars that are a 1 of a kind as far as I know in NZ.
a CSP311 Silvia (554 produced globally according to wiki), and a KGC10 coupe (GT-R lookalike.....no S20 engine)
also, there is technically only one KH510, and there is now 2 KP510's (so thats really 3x 510 coupes.....but 1 is an 1800 version).
the 510 2 door sedan would be quite rare.....I can think of only 2 original ones (and one 4door-modified one)
the 510 wagon is also rare.....can think of around 4 or so in NZ.
A lot of the old prince skyline's e.t.c. would also be quite rare, depending on the model
