Hi, does anyone here know whether a 280zx dizzy is a standalone unit, or is it tied in with the ecu? Is the ignition module inside the distributor housing or a separate box?
If you convert an L28e to carbs do you need to do anything with the ignition or will it run fine?

Re: 280zx distributor
I run a Std L28 dissy with carbs, no computer, I do run old style after market ignition system, but understand you can run it with a normal coil, certainly not tied into the computer. Best bet for info would be checkout USA forums where people are fitting L28s to 240z's on triples.

A standard L28E Electronic dizzy will work fine with carbs, it's a common upgrade from the points option on earlier L6 vehicles. The optical distributors are different but you're not likely to find one of those on many L28's.
So long as you have the electronic coil too, (I believe constant 12V vs. 12/6V for the points one) it will run poifektly fine.
(I run an L28 diz on the 110 (has had single, twin and soon will have triple carbs) and my brother does on his S30 also (twin carbs))
