My 1972 1200 coupe

Post by Lang Inder »

Well this is my other datsun project that i bought recently, its going to get stripped right back and pannel and painted once the 140j's finished but untill then im just playing around with it.

Shell is actually quite sound with only one hole, has a few new patches welded in and not finished though. Currently running a15 with twin 40's. I've got no idea what's been done to the engine but man it goes  Also came with a 5 speed which im going to install eventually. Live rego and already certed for the a15 and lowering, so overall im happy with my purchase.

Straight away got into it, sanded all the surface rust of the bare pannels and primed, then sprayed with the spare blue paint it came with. It was actually red from factory and will be going back red but is blue for now. Put a new front grill on it and ripped the ugly boot spoiler and bonnet pins off

so this is where its at for the moment, preserved.

Also these showed up in the local paper. 3x 1200 coupes which i had to buy, not bad for $350 haha. Only one is actually fixable but heaps of parts, which should get this one pretty good.

So the a15 started playing up alot, would idle on 2 cylinders, then once it got over 3k revs it would pick up the last two. But eventually it got so bad the engine wouldn't even run. decided it was the carb so i ripped them off and dropped them off to a guy to re-build them. Two days later got them back! Just waiting for some braided hose to turn up then i'll re-install them and make up some nice new fuel lines.

also am after 1x1200 coupe drivers seat, condition doesn't really matter as i'll proberly get it re-covered eventually,

soo made up new gaskets today so i could put my carbs back on, now all back together and it wont go because there is no fuel to the carbs, you can suck fuel up to the fuel pump but it's not getting pumped over to the carbs? Any chance my fuel pump may have shit its self while it was just sitting there, not running?

the diaphram might have failed in the pump?
Or the float levels could be too low? (preventing gas entering the bowls)
