Electric vacuum pump for brake booster

Post by skdmrx »

Hey.I'm picking I might have an issue getting enough vacuum to run my brake booster properly so Im thinking about using an electric vacuum pump. You can get after market pumps for this but they're all big bulky things,VW passats and stuff have a smaller vacuum pump for the booster but I'm not sure weather they do the whole job or just assist.Has anyone had any experiance with these things before or knows how the VW system works?Ive tried googling it but it not coming back with much

Cheers

How about a diesel alternator? Quite a few of them have vacuum pumps built in. I think my sisters old Audi may have had an electric vacuum pump, the central locking was vacuum operated.

I know Gaz Whiter use on in his drift car, It was rather expensive from memory and think it might have come from Canada of all places. Ill get more info for you if you like.

Quite a neat unit makes vac instantly and is only running when your foot touches the pedal or in his case handbrake as well as his hydrolic handbrake has its own booster.

Biggest problem with them is they are so bloody ugly and the alternator sits in the middle of the V on the vh.Yea I think the Audi ones are the same as the VW ones but I'm not sure if theyll have enough sucky sucky

Could you not just run a vacuum canister? Thats what V8 boys with big cams and no vacuum have to do.
They don't call me the man with the rubber arm for nothing you know.............

This is the bad boy right here.
Very clever little pump.

Summit racings version ment to be the same but with the "CVR" logo removed.

This is the exact unit Gaz has, Tony couldn't remember where exactly he got it from but new it was in canada.
