I've got an A14 (T) one, not sure if they are the same.

Worth a try/comparison if that's cool with you?

Not a problem Braasy, just pop around when you're free
Where is your dipstick hole & what is your sump like?

See you in October ;) Dipstick hole is on the left side of the block per THIS image. You will need to clarify what you mean by "what is your sump like?". Cheers.

I have taken some pictures but can't open them to edit. My tube looks longer than yours :P My sump is about 150 deep where the Dip stick is, the tube is about 185 high and the dipstick, to the face of the rubber that seals on top of the tube is about 380 long. All in mm, hope this helps. If this computer decides to play ball this evening I'll try put up some pics.

Early a12 like in a B110 car has the dizzy at the front and the dip stick goes into a hole drilled into the block, Mid dizzy motors have a tube that comes up from the block, between the oil pump and the fuel pump as per Braasy's image. Early a12 dipsticks are solid wire, with the H-L area crimped flat, a15 is flat steel riveted on to a wire handle. The lengths are also different.
Early ones can get caught in the crank web if they are put in wrong, locking the engine solid on start up
