Decided to post up my 521 ute. Here is the rundown.
Its a 1969 521 ute. Has very minimal rust and in good condition all over. Has dents in drivers door and both front guards. Here is a photo of how it was when i got it!
The plans so far are:
CA18DET with big turbo and custom plenum
Hilux diff with 4 link
Hilux front 2inch drop spindles ( 5 stud as well so its easy conversion)
Airbags all round
Wellside tray with tipping function
Orange paint job
Bucket seats
Here is some photos of what i have allready done on it.
Took the old deck off and binned it.
Removed the old J13 and start to remove guards and bonnet etc.
Strip out entire cab and ready to remove from chassie
cab is off, and got new driver and passenger
test fit of cab to new chassie
removed unwanted suspension parts
test fit #2 of the cab
New body mounts
Firewall cut and first test fit of the motor

Those two make it look like a clown car. Is that some new chassis mounts I see?

Re: SIK521
HaHa thanks Hayden.
Been really busy with work and not getting so much done on the 521 but got an update that is woth the wait. (for me anyway)
Had a thought that nissan navara front spindles may work on my ute as they are allready disk brake (allthough i will upgrade them) and you can get drop spindles if need be. So i bought a pair of front nissan navara hubs complete.
Turn out that they are a direct bolt on and every ball joint is perfect match even the steering. I bolted it up and boom, disk brakes. But wait it gets better. A friend of a friend then told me that hilux 5 stud hubs will bolt straight on with minor modification and that nissan 4 pot callipers also bolt directly onto the narvara hubs, so i tried it and it works. Here is some photos for your viewing pleasure.
This is the new spindle in place
6 stud navara hub with 4 pot
And finally the 5 stud hilux hub
Just got to sort out a rotor to suit and we are go.
