I wont answer any stupid question
Im only attempting to help others by telling you FACTS about exactly what does and does not work here.
Theres so much BS out there about this kind of thing.
Logic behind the mod
Want to stay in 1600cc class
Prefer to retain Nissan Engine
Car already runs 6 speed Silvia box behind the A15 so SR20 block will bolt straight up after I fit a factory
bellhousing to the gearbox.
Im not aware of any other 1600cc RWD v-tech nissan.
Standard 1600 rated at around 175hp @ 7800 rpm
This is what I have done so far
I purchased a complete SR16vvl FWD engine
I purchased a complete SR20 de RWD engine
Both engine have the same bore size.
Disassembled both, fitted 1600 crank and one piston and rod to check deck height.
Measured and same as 1600 block.
Cold tanked /honed /SR20 block, fitted new frost plugs etc:
Ground the crank (was slightly scoured / too much to polish out)
Fitted ARP rod bolts
New rings different to Sr20 thinner & more expensive typical

Chucked it all in the SR20 DE block.
retained Sr20 girdle.
Used 1600 front cover and oil pump, bolts straight on but a few holes dont line up.
Issues so far.
Main rear oil drain hole needs plugging
Front oil supply needs gallery plug
Front oil supply needs 1.5mm restrictor
Head needs oil supply tapped 1/8npt on side (inlet)
Original oil supply to head needs gallery plug, the 1600 head overhangs the sr20 block.
Used SR20DE Headgasket.
Crank Pulley / Sr20 no good, use sr16.
Sr16 water pump will not fit SR20 block.
Space water pump pulley & Alternator forward 13mm
SR20 Oil pickup holes need slotting to fit 1600 pump.
Use SR16 oil pump and front cover
SR20 front cover timing post is in different position to 1600
Used SR20 water pump pulley running on large diameter of 1600 crank pulley,
Used SR20 cam chain and tensioner.\
Sr20 cam sprockets.
Cam Timing marks lined up perfect.
