Hey Guys,
I have just bought a 1972 SSS and was hoping you could enlighten me as to where it was built?
Car Jam Says: Imported Built-Up, country of origin: Japan.
Does this mean what is says, or was this still assembled from a kit in NZ? I am mainly trying to work out if this will be a little more unique when I take it back to Australia with me... ie, is it closer to JDM spec than the Australian built models?
From Wikipedia:
"A few automatic and twin carburettor SSS versions were imported built-up from Japan, primarily for buyers who had access to funds overseas and could utilise the country's 'no remittance' new car purchase scheme to avoid lengthy waiting lists"
Cheers!

Yeah you read it right bamble, 1600 SSS where imported CBU (Completely built up) from Japan as new. I wouldn't be too sure the 510SSSs weren't in Aussie too, as I have heard that 710 SSSs came to New Zealand after being destined for Aussie, CBU then being cancelled and diverted here.
