Wellington workshops

Post by bamble »

Hey All,

Just looking for recommendations for workshops in the Wellington region. I am looking for a place good with carbs for tuning/servicing. I am also looking for a place to rebuild/recondition a transmission as well as custom fitting (will require cross-member work and drive-shaft shortening, basically an L20A 5-speed in a 510. Cheers!

Theere used to be a place called the Chequered Flag that was supposed to be pretty good with that stuff, don't know if they're still around or not.

You know that if you get a "short" 5 speed out of a R30 or similar you don't need to change driveshafts or crossmembers, right?

Though I have never used him personally, I know there is a workshop next to Z Petone run by Ross Lake who is into classic cars. He may be of some help or could point you in the right direction.

go see Chris @ Diesel Tech, they are located in the old Shred Motorsport building on Pharazyn Street in Lower Hutt. He's pretty onto it with the technical stuff
