IMPORTING FROM JAPAN

Hi guys, looking for another 1200, and since the availability in new zealand is pretty much nill most of the time, I was looking to the possibility of importing from Japan as there are plenty available.

First question is can it be done? if so how easy?

Some people tell me I can't because it is older than 20 years but I see people talking about importing old cars all the time.

Any info appreciated

More than 20 years old should be fine. I think you'll find that a decent one would go for good money in Japan and the cost to import, comply and fix anything wrong with a car that old (rust) is going to cost more than buying one here.

You still can buy one here,everything depends on your budget.
Check out the reply from kitch on the other post regarding 1200 coupes.its a interesting info

The days of getting 1200 for bugger all are all gone but you will get them cheaper here. I now of two for sale in CH CH.
