You need to replace them as you say they are split so you will need to bleed new ones up anyway so why not go braided at the same time?
We have two 1600's and both have braided lines and they are no harder to bleed up than standard ones and give a firmer feel to the pedal.
Standard ones bulge slightly being rubber so take some of the feel away.

Bleeding brakes aint hard Andy.
Do you have a compressor at your house? I have the use of a pressure bleeder which makes it even less work.

yea replacing them will be easy, its just bleeding them is the part i hate
and yea now you say that think i will try look at getting braided ones
are they expensive? will replace the lot.
yea i have a small compresser in the garage Bart, whats this that makes it even less work?
i like the sound of that.

you can get braided hoses made from a heap of places like safe rs, cv specs etc but why would you bother? bit of a w**k factor but thats just my opinion, yes the people are correct and it will increase better pedal pressure but most people wouldnt even be able to tell the difference. rubber brake hoses $60ish--- braided lines 50ish EACH

im sure you have better things to spend ya money on and if you are after better brake feel then put some good quality pads and rotors in the front end!!!!!!!!!

Totally agree with Jesse here, brand new rubber hoses are cheaper and will do the job just fine.
