Import

Post by Datsun 16OO »

Does anyone know how much it would roughly cost to ship a Datsun from OZ to the South Island? My Dad has the family heirloom 1600 he bought new in 1970 then modified into a rally car(First car I ever drove) on the front yard rusting away with a rolling shell behind it heading for a similar fate. Breaks my heart. The engine from my first car a 73 180B SSS is in the garage along with the gear box, diff and front struts from my 2nd car a 78 Skyline GT

Hi Craig,
I have no idea of cost sorry. But if you import a car with rust, it will be flagged when it comes into the country. So then before it can become road worthy, it will need to have a rust repair cert for any rust repairs. Not impossible, just added cost and hassle.
That said, just do it anyway!
They don't call me the man with the rubber arm for nothing you know.............

where in oz is it?
cheapest will be brisbane to auckland for the shipping
you will need to also have a receipt or proof of ownership to register it in nz

google a few importers then call them to make sure you are both on the same page when you get a quote. there are lots of hidden costs
