Has anyone done this? I've seen a few for sale. Just wondering how much work is involved. Obviously the cross member, engine and gearbox mounts will need work. Just wondering if the trans tunnel will aswell? Had a look online, and there seems to be very little info this conversion.
Thanks.

I have an Xmember to fit a rotor into a 510, But I don't know weather or not it would pass cert or not. You'll also need to enlarge your transmission tunnel. As well as the obligatory modifications to the wiring loom.

Re: Rotary into 1600
I'm not sure. It came with my 510 when I bought it. The previous owner had begun converting it and given up.....

Good. Rotary engines are cool in Mazda Rotarys. Nissan have enough good engines to choose from. but hey it's your car.Bartman wrote:The previous owner had begun converting it and given up.....
Re: Rotary into 1600
Either way ,A SR/FJ conversion will set you back a fear amount of dollars as will a rotary conversion ,upto you what way you go but it won't be cheap .
MODS:
Gearbox xmember
Engine xmember
and some slight relief to the firewall for the clutch fork on the top of the gearbox
Other than that it would only be small stuff like wiring-exhaust ect

Re: Rotary into 1600
Rotaries are THE easiest engine to fit into anything
Re: Rotary into 1600
Yes they are easy to fit in anything, but that also depends which way your gonna go??
ported motor NA is by far the easiest but the motors are pretty expensive for a low k or rebuilt one + plus the gear youll want IDA Flywheel gearbox
turbo standard motor are easy and cheap but you dont actually know what your gettin but the front plate with have to be changed
Only difference between a 13b and a 12a is its 20mm longer and either way you will need a 12a front plate to mount it
