Re: James 85 Z31 300zx
Yeah its a pretty famous car
I know its this one because i frequent the Z31 Performance USA web forums
http://home.comcast.net/~movistar323/P1000877.JPG" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
That particular car is an 85 body with an 88 rounded front end swap and a shaved rear bumper, it is actually a drift car / track hack

save yourself some work,and use r31 turbo (hr31 gts-x) slip on front hubs that you can redrill to 5 stud very easily.
using z31 hubs, like you say, they need to be machined down but they also space the disc out approx. 5mm further. this means you will need
spacers behind the caliper. r31 hubs dont, as they fit straight up. and it also gives about 5mm more gaurd clearance too...
im going through all this on an S12 at the moment, which is virtually identical to your front end.

Re: James 85 Z31 300zx
I actually have the opportunity to buy the slip on style rare impossible to find 88 z315 stud hubs,
However i can get mine machined for free and i have a contact in the USA who is getting me the correct length wheel studs for around $50 NZD to account for the thickness of the rotor.
its personal choice but I am happy with my solution considering I already have the hubs.

Re: James 85 Z31 300zx
haha yeah i got offered a set of those for $400 each, and passed it surprisingly
im going the same way you are with z31 hubs now, as the wheels i have (9" wide) foul the strut with r31 hubs, but clear by about 2mm with the z31 hubs. apparently there is a disc that bolts to the back of a 5 stud z31 hub that suits the 4 pot r33 calipers. the Aussies i talked to said it was a mitsi Verada or simular. im trying to find out as this would pull back 8mm of gaurd clearance from the slip on discs. my rims already about 15-18mm outside the gaurd
