Re: Datsun Chassis Number Search?????
The deluxe sedans had plastic grills too. (just different to the coupe ones)
The number after the "B110" leads me to believe it's a coupe, or at least not NZ assembled.
My NZ built sedan is b110-001892 and thats a 72. And Simons one is a '70, and his number is very low. Like b110-0000xx.

The car is definately a Coupe as confirmed by a mate who works for Nissan, and is listed as NZ new. If I could sort the wiring issues it would be on the road tomorrow.

Also not true, my old orange one (now Bedes') is a 1200 Deluxe and was assembled by Todd Motors in Thames.Brnwgn wrote:delux sedans were jap assembled too i think
As far as I am aware Bart NZ/Oz/Japanese sedans only came with metal grilles unless they were from a Japanese Sunny Excellent. Even the "facelift" Sunny Deluxe Sedan grille/GX sedan grille is 3 piece and metal. Never seen a factory sedan with a plastic grille.
In terms of plastic grilles The coupes/Utes and early GX models all have the same grille just painted differently and the badges on the front are different even though the grille itself is identical:
Coupe (1 piece, outer raised portion and center raised portion a lighter grey, round "D" in NZ/OZ or "S" in Japan)
Sunny GX Coupe (1 piece, Only outer raised portion of grille a lighter grey,Round "S" with elongated sides)
Ute (` piece, ligher paint around headlights and outside raised portion of grille, rectangle "D" in NZ/OZ or "S" in Japan)
Sunny Deluxe Sedan "facelift" grille was just the same as the Sunny GX Sedan grille (metal , 3 piece)
Sunny Excellent grille (plastic , 1 piece)

Re: Datsun Chassis Number Search?????
The Deluxe sedans had a plastic grill for certin. It wasn't the "scoop" style one the coupes had though. All the SSS sedans had the different type of grills. And they were all build from deluxe sedans.
EDIT, I'm talking about the heater cowl grills. When someone mentioned grills, thats what I though of for some reason........
