Same manifold as a BMC B series because its the same engine essentially. its also got a B series oil pump internals put into the J series housing because I couldnt find a J series replacement one.Bartman wrote:Where the hell did you find that manifold?!!!

Re: J's 620 ute
Ok, I'm about ready to molotov this thing down a back street somewhere, Ive been trying to get the 40 solex dialed in, I can either get the idle down to around where it should be 800 rpm or I can get the AFR to where it should be 14.7.
When the idle is at 800rpm the AFR is around 9.8, and when the AFR is 14.7 it idles at 1600rpm and the back 2 cyl miss and show rich fuel soaked plugs the fronts read fine. Also even though I havnt checked with a thermometer the EGTs are way hotter then what they should be, but that makes sense because of its current running condition.
The timing at idle is 10deg btdc, checked with a timing gun.
The next thing I'm going to look at is air leaks around the inlet manifold and possibly some colder plugs.

Re: J's 620 ute
wouldnt the AFR be lower at idle and increase with revs and load applied?

No stachiometric burn is 14.7.dirtyleppa wrote:wouldnt the AFR be lower at idle and increase with revs and load applied?
you actually want it to drop a bit below that when you rev it or else it will detonate max horsepower is between 12.6 and 13.7.
but If i cant get it to idle right theres no use even trying to get the progression circuit dialed in.
