Excellent wee project you've got there Budd , shame that the last owners couldn't look after it properly just thought I'd add that I have New kingpin kits for these utes if you decide to keep the original front end in situ, am looking for a 720 myself to ad to my collection.

Good job, id love to see some pics. i can see there might be an issue with the bench seat fouling up on the gear stick becasue these gearboxes are abnormally long, did you run a bench seat? did you need to cut the firewall/gbox tunnel to accomodate the sr? what sort of ecu have you used? im hoping to use the factory silvia one, but im unsure if it needs to interface with other car computers to run well etc. it seems like theres not too many wires coming out compared to my 1uzfe.wheel_rx wrote:I have a 1972 521 I have just put an SR20DE into it. Re: 1970 datsun 521
sorry dude haven't had a look at this in awhile. I made up to fit using sr bellhousing and tailshaft from an l series short tail box. I have the stock s14vvt computer running seems ok for now, i will put an apexi safc on soon, so i can change a few things. Wiring diagrams are really hard to come by for the sr20de engine. also got custom radiator, and modified the steering to fit the sump.
I had a thread http://datsun.co.nz/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=9243" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I should really put it on here. pm me if you need to know anything

Re: 1970 datsun 521
OK heres the latest on the datto, ive been really slack on the website side of things, apologies, but i have however got a fair bit of progress done on the ute.
Sooo i cut both the sills off and found some cute corrosion to deal to, what a surprise
Due to the design both the floor and cab mounts have rusted through...
....so i made up some new mounts
Heres one side all cut out ready for new steel, the whole lover portion of the inner sill was rotten also so that needed replacement.
And this is it almost completed
The other side looked basically the same
Heres an inside shot of the other side
And heres one of the new sills i folded up, not too sure if the profile is correct as the one i removed had been crudely replaced before, as long as it looks close i suppose, hope no one will notice if its out haha
And after stripping the bonnet i found some serious damage, so i guess that's the next on the list to repair
Any way heres most of the crap i have removed so far, decided to keep it all to use as motivation to finish this thing.
On another note, im genuinely considering trying to make a matching well-side tray, so ill keep you posted on that if it ever eventuates,
