HELP wiring coupe dash

Post by buzzy »

I have started to put my coupe dash in to a sedan, pulled the wires out of the main round plug and re-wired as the the sedan to coupe wiring picture on datsun1200.com. only thing is i have a couple of different wires... i have 2x black wires and a yellow/black no yellow/blue and no red/yellow wire. when i turn the key to on only the charge light faintly comes on, but if i try to put the headlights on all my indicators come on and stay on??? tired swapping a couple of wires here and there but still does the same thing?

anyone one found this when wiring a coupe dash into their sedan?

6 green
7 blank
8 white/red
9 green/ red
10 green/ blue

Did you go clockwise when looking at the front of the plug, do you have the same colour wires as I do?

You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life.

alright managed to get most of it working (all dash lights, charge light, high beam, indicators) this is the way i wired the plug

1 Y/W
2 Y/Black
3 G/Black
4 G/Blue
5 G/R
6 G
7 Blank
8 W/R
9 Y
10 Black
11 R/W
12 Black

problem is i cant get the fuel gauge to work (does the car need to be running for this to work?) apart from that I'm good to go.

I tried changing the Yellow and Red/White wire around which resulted in my LH fr lower indicator/park light wires melting! Not that much fun looking up and seeing smoke come out of the bonnet!! so i put the wires back to the setup above and decided to call it a night.

any ideas?

What is the best way to hook up the rev counter? I cant find the b/w wires in the loom that you are suppose to use. Should i just wire it directly to the coil instead or is there a better way to wire it?

The black white wire goes to the coil, rev counter should be wired to the negative side of the coil i believe.
