I decided to make some custom larger ID and shorter intercooler piping up using the lobster back technique, James worked out what the ideal angles to cut the straight pipe at to give a nice smooth bend (smooth for lobster back bends) so this is my mocking up so far after cutting these segments up:
Will add some more sections to the front to bring it round to meet the intercooler better, and will be doing the other side the same but with 3" alloy instead of 2.5" , Also the 3" side will be extremely short due to my plenum being custom and a bit longer at the TB end
hey, unsure of insert brand as never asked, and you can choose from a few different spring rates also. as far as value for money these are prob as good as you will find for the money. email MRP or visit http://www.mrpltd.co.nz" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for further info and contact details.
If any you guys need powder coating, HPC type coating, Teflon coating to pistons and other thermal barrier coatings go see mate Dave Norris at elite powdercoating.
He gave my Snapon top box a freshen up in high gloss black powdercoat other day, very happy with the finished product
Finally got all the bits and pieces required to get these adjustables in, so out came the 280X struts, stripped them down to a bare spindle, chopped strut tube off just above the spindle and took them round to my mates to have the lower body adjustable
Part of the adjusties mated to the spindle. So just waiting on him to machine the wee boss/adapter to the right OD so it fits in between them, then can TIG it together and reassemble the hub with new Discs etc. Hopefully have it all back together with the new tierods, balljoints, nolethane bushes for bottom arms etc. For a wheel Alignment next week sometime.
Had couple small issues with steering knuckles not fitting new balljoints ( as I had the early smaller stud balljoints and knuckles) so ended up getting a set of later steering knuckles off mate scott which happened to fit the larger stud balljoint mint (thanks Scott) so just waiting on nick to finish welding hub of the 280zx strut to the bottom body adjustable part of the adjusties today then i can finish installing them tonight. Iv finished overhauling the hubs (fully cleaned out and repacked bearings and hubs as bearings were sweet) Brand new vented discs ,bendix ultimate pads (still like new, I really rate these pads) at this stage brake upgrade doesn't seem necessary as the 280zx brakes work extremely well in combination with bluebird u11 rear disc brake setup.
