Yes, if You had the tools you could bend one up, but most of us don't. So these ones are worth the small amount of money.
I did mine with a bench vice and a hammer, and it came out mint. It depends how stingy you are.
No welding, meets all cert Requirements. All you do is make a template with some stiff wire and get bending.
It was a bit of a pain in the ass to do , but hey it was free.

Re: F/S New Driveshaft Loop kit
I guess, if you had the plate already, the nuts and bolts already, a bench to have a vice on, a bench vice, a decent drill and a spare chunk of time it was "free".
Me, I have no bench in my garage (I don't own the house I live in), so no vice, no metal bar as I have no engineering tools in my shit garage.
I value my time, so my time is neither free nor are the tools required to make it. So, the bit where I said:

hrspwrs hoops look nice, comes with all the nuts and bolts and is powder coated, meets NZ standards and costs less than half an hour of my contracting rate.
If I was still in Nelson, well that would be another story.

Re: F/S New Driveshaft Loop kit
That home made job looks pretty good James.
Thanks Craig for the offer, but knew someone on here would have a use for it.
Do you guys know if the hoop must be bolted two piece?
I was thinking of using a 50mm band of 5" steam pipe pressed to elongate it to shape to inside of tunnel, and slid over the drive shaft would do the trick.
would then just have a 50x5 wing tab welded to each side and bolted through floor with 2x M10 bolts each side.
any comments?

Re: F/S New Driveshaft Loop kit
single or two piece is ok as long as its 50x5 minimum , no more than 150mm from the UJ and supported by 4x M10 High Tensile bolts with load spreading washers on the inside of the sheet metal.
Worth talking to your cert man, do whatever he says. I showed Wayne Martin a sketch of mine before it got built and he said it was good to go.
