Re: 1985 GB122 1200 Sunny Ute
Glad to see the warrant happened! As for the other comments........ I have come an extremely long way. No rush for the bump stops, it's not like the coupe is gonna be going anytime soon hahahaha. I can always pick them up easter weekend anyway as I'm planning a visit

Re: 1985 GB122 1200 Sunny Ute
Took the ute for a drive today ... Seems like quite a battle keeping it on the road without the strut spacers but still love that Datsun feel.
Thinking I might put them back in but seems a bit of a waste of the wheel alignment I just got.
few other things..
- seems to be running rich and can smell small amounts of fuel occasionally.
- Seems to turn really easily left but is tight to the tight.
- Also seems more movement on the wheel before it actually turns the wheels.
looking forward to Rakaia

Fitting strut spacers will only need the toe-in adjusted. The castor/camber change if any will be even on both sides, so no worries.Tony_Whenua wrote:quite a battle keeping it on the road without the strut spacers ...

how do I go about that?Datto_610 wrote:Sounds like play in the steering box which is why the steering wheel turns a few times before the actual wheels do. Might be able to adjust the steering box a bit to get rid of the play but you only go so far if your steering box is pretty old and shagged.

Tappets are really easy!
we could do them at the Rakaia gorge park up.
14 thou hot, and rule of nine. (I'll explain on the day)

Yeah I'm going to give it a go tonight. Been suggested to drain the fuel in the carb possibly and see if there is any water in it.Bartman wrote:Tappets are really easy!

Wanted to check timing but they were $110 from Repco!
So tonight I'll check/do:
- Tappets (comments about how are somewhere earlier in this profile)
- Strut spacers
- Dwell reading and points
- Clean filter etc
- look into changing diff oil ... seems noisier than usual so maybe thought could change it out??
