Pips datto project - 1973 Datsun 140J sedan
So long time with no progress, but now it's slow but it happening!
The hubs we got from vegie, John turned them down to fit inside the new rotors. Today Dan brought home a jigsaw from work and we cut out a calliper bracket from a price of wood to mock up the calliper position. First design was way off (Dan and James had a few whiskeys when this one was designed )
Redesigned a new bracket, cut it out and it works sweet.
We will now get it laser cut from 10mm steal this week.
Once this done we will order the coil overs that dan1200sss has and the front end will be finished.

In order to move house we need the car back on 4 wheels, so borrowed a 1200 diff and 620 u bolts and brackets from Bart.
They don't fit very well!
But they fit well enough to roll onto a trailer!

This is the current diff. ..a C200 from a Navara. Same as a R200 but sold axle. It's a 4.11 clutch lsd.
Diff is currently at James place getting a rebuild with his magic touch.
New bearings seals and shimmed up etc.

Great to hear its still moving forwards, Mine is to but been very slow have moved house twice and that really slows things down,
Did you shorten the diff alot and what ratios are available in the C200?
I was looking out for a R31 diff and was going to fit a 28 spline LSD to it (but i just gave that to my bro inlaw) so all ideas are under consideration now.

Not sure what other ratios are available sorry. It got shortened by about 100mm each side, and relocated the spring mounts too.
Any short nose r200 Centre should fit in as well. ..... Maybe James could confirm if he has one?

Any ratio that a "skid family" nissan sky/cef/laurel/silv etc R200 came with, the gearset should fit one of these diffs. The C200, being a ute diff, often had small ratio (high number, low gear) may have been a small as 4.8:1. I'm sure I read somewhere that the drifters got their foam on for gears that small. So much so, that they might even pay a premium for them.
