7 Coupe's Projects and Cars

Post by 7 Coupes »

Hi everyone we (my brother and I) have a couple of projects under way, our latest addition being a 72 Z18ET 1200 Coupe in need of some attention. As we are new to this site will see if I can figure out how to post some pics to illustrate

And the not so good view :(

Our first job is to get that wheel free so we can steer our new baby, then we can get it into the Coupe repair den.
Or plan is to chain the crushed bit to a tree and pull from behind with the 4WD (as any good Kiwi would do :) )

Engine is intact and still running but it is a bit tighter than in this pre crash pic though the radiator doesn't hold water for long

Looked to be a fair price for that car, looks like it will need a pretty good front cut grafted on most likely aye.

We thought so on both of those,

Our Dad was an old school panel beater and would have repair what was there but I'd says that's beyond us

Its near impossible to move around how it is so will give it a stretch just for Now

Done this before many years ago so fingers crossed

(Coupe 1 from about 30 years ago 8-) )

Thanks
And I thought that might be the case, would appreciate the link to that

Edit, just realized you all saw it on TM (as cant see it as a build on the site anywhere) :?

We are in no hurry to fix it (steady as she goes) and expect a few K to go in before its a runner again, though guess I may have to look at what else is in my shed that can be sold to move things along a little

Ok so we started stage 2 of the project yesterday (Get Coupe 7 movable)

Its hard to move something with the wheel wedged at full lock and the tire flat
Will continue after I've had my Sunday afternoon Superbike TV fix :geek:

We attached a tow strop to the lower suspension arm and proceeded to jolt the car forward with another vehicle.
It barely moved, so eventually we had to release the front arm brace and sway bar and then after several tries the wheel was free :Jelly:

Our goal for the day was just be able to move C7 around so we then tried to fit a spare 13" Skinner non punctured C6 Datsuns spare wheel but the S13 calliper and even the disc were to big so we had to remove them and tie the calliper up on the guard with a steel spacer plate between the brake pads so we could still apply the brakes for the other wheels.

We tried to start the Z18ET motor after this but perhaps a cross between to a weak battery and the fact it hadn't been running for a year or so, she was a no go which meant that once we had taken the C6 A15 coupe project car for a quick spin around the block to warm it up, :D we then hitched C7 up and towed it into the Garage for safe storage ready for Stage 3 work 8-)
